Preparing for the Rainbow Rage

There are 2 very important factors to consider when taking on the Rainbow Rage challenge.
  • Hydration
  • Warmth

Hydration

The Rainbow Rage takes between 4 to 9 hours to complete and so adequate hydration is essential or your performance will decrease, cramps will start etc etc. As mountain bikes normally only have a single bottle cage you will need to consider a hydration backpack.

These can store 2 to 3 litres of fluid that is easily accessed through a tube over the shoulder. The internal bladders can be doubled up to give you even more capacity. If you do not have a hydration backpack, need a bigger one or your current backpack needs a new bladder call into Avanti Plus Nelson and we will help you out.

Warmth

The 2009 Rainbow Rage experienced a severe drop in temperature over the final half of the ride.  There are many reports of riders being caught out by not having adequate clothing.
